Job Overview

As Infra Lead – Cloud, you will be responsible for leading a team of Cloud/Infrastructure Engineers to maintain the Cloud infrastructure assets for Discus and its Clients. The primary responsibilities include maintaining near-100% uptime of applications/services hosted on the Cloud along with introduction of innovations and bleeding edge solutions to make the Cloud infrastructure more performant and cost efficient. You will, in particular, be responsible for architecting technology solutions to leverage technologies to ensure the infrastructure remains stable, highly available & performs at their optimal levels.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Ensure the Cloud & on-premise infrastructure continues to run optimally in for Discus & its Clients.

• Lead your team to quickly and effectively resolve issues as soon as they are discovered or reported

• Recruit & groom team members so they quickly adapt to the architecture principles followed at Discus

• Keep the Discus network & Client networks secure by implementing optimal security configuration & patches

• Ensure the network security tiers are routinely monitored to ensure firewalls & accessibility is correctly configured

• Plan and manage regular DR drills for Discus & Clients

• Manage & improve upon the error reporting/alerting framework to proactively resolve problems

• Help implement fault-tolerant & self-healing architecture

• Manage technology assets (Users/Roles/Servers/Keys) to ensure optimal security guidelines are followed

• Work with Management & Development Lead to implement best-practice architecture for Discus Apps across Clients

• Manage release automation & continuous integration framework using Jenkins along with the Development Lead

• Work with Infra/Cloud team to ensure the Applications are running efficiently and without problems

• Ensure that your team members follow best practice architecture & documentation standards

• Maintain, and prepare on an ongoing basis (with the team), adequate documentation for – this includes at least

• Architecture diagrams

• Interface & integration documents

• Server configuration documents

• Application & services config documents

• Present regular reports of costs, optimization & performance to Management

• Work closely with the Development Manager to achieve target release schedules

• Participant in pre-sales meetings with the Sales team to understand and propose optimal solutions for Client needs

• Develop & implement methods for skills & knowledge enhancement • Handle client escalations swiftly & efficiently

Eligibility & Criteria

• Have at least 8 years of experience in IT managing multi-server infrastructure

• Be AWS certified (equivalent certifications may be considered)

• Be motivated & possess a passion for IT as a whole & the Cloud Infrastructure technology stack in particular

• Be proactive, outcome-oriented & solution-focused

• Have demonstrated success in team leadership

• Have worked in a similar or equivalent role for at least 3 years

• Have worked with Enterprise Clients in India and Overseas managing NoC setups

• Have a degree in Computer Engineering, IT or equivalent

• Have experience with deploying software in multi-service load-balanced environments

• Have an understanding of Business Continuity Planning, Disaster Recovery & DR Drills

Technical experience (Required)

• In-depth understanding of AWS services

• Proven expertise with *nix based systems – configuration, installations, DNS and scripting

• In-depth understanding of network security

• Have knowledge of white-hat hacking

• Thorough understanding of TCP/IP protocols

• Thorough understanding of the Network stack

• Thorough understanding of SMTP, SSL, VPNs & other technologies

• Performance monitoring – servers, databases & network

• Docker & Docker Swarm (Kubernetes will be considered but not preferred)

• Application Servers (any of wildfly/tomcat/glassfish) & Web Servers (any of Apache/nginx) & proxy servers (HAProxy)

• Unix, Windows & Linux environments

Technical experience (Preferred)

• SAP, Solution Manager & BASIS

• Caching services

• *nix or networking certification

• Database configuration, logging & optimization

• Understanding of SaaS deployments on Cloud

• Specific AWS technologies – beanstalk, lightsail, cloudfront, rds

• Understanding of message queues

It is preferred that you

Have worked in a leadership role for at least 4 years

Are quick to understand and adopt new technologies to make the Cloud infrastructure more agile & resilient

Have a Masters degree in a related field

Have an understanding of SaaS deployments

Have an understanding of ERP & CRM systems

Have an understanding of Enterprise Application Integration

Other Specific Requirements

Must have AWS certification

Must have experience on Docket or Devops

Added advantage if experience on SAP
